We have liftoff!

It feels like I’ve been in a dream for the past week. Trying to round off things at work, leaving work lists for other people to pick up my job and just generally running around like a chicken with its head cut off. The past week has been ridiculous! Monday night I finished packing my carry-on and my suitcase close to midnight and spent the next few hours burning the midnight oil trying to get a few things for work finished up. Leaving things to the last minute, me? Nahhhhh

My transportation from Halifax to Keflavik, Boeing 737

Tuesday mid-morning I left for the airport,  figured out a few more things while on the road… endured a four hour flight with a wailing baby behind me, passed out for an hour on a very comfortable bench in the keflavik airport (most comfortable benches to sleep on of any airport I have been so far) subsequently got completely lost in the airport (as in I could actually NOT find my way out!) and today, Wednesday I’ve spent the morning floating around in the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. I’ve also finally managed to find free wifi! WAHOO! I have another hour to kill before I catch the bus back to the airport so I thought I would post a quick update.

This place is seriously cool! Although the water isn’t quite as warm as I expected. I expected it to be hot but it’s more of a warmish comfortable bathtub temperature.

Blue Lagoon!

Other impressions of Iceland so far: Everyone is tall and Blonde, the language is indecipherable and there are a lot of rocks. A LOT of rocks.

Now on a finance related note, I’m really trying to let go and just have a vacation, not spending extravagantly but not counting every penny either. So far, it’s going okay. Are you able to let go while on vacation?

  1. Glad to hear that everything worked out and you were able to go ahead with this trip. Sounds like it's off to a good start. I admit that I sometimes have a tough time really letting go while on vacation. The cost of everything is still always in the back of my mind. The more those costs add up, the closer to the front of my mind it gets. Anyways, have a blast in Europe Andrea!

    • Thanks Jeremy! I admit that this morning in the train I pulled out by itinerary, on which I have a cost breakdown and budget for each day and compared what I've spent to what my goal was…. I feel like such a nerd.
