For the past four weeks I’ve been participating in a weight-loss challenge hosted by Serendipity and today marks the last day of the challenge. You can find the other weeks here; Intro, Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3.
My goals were to;
– lose 4 lbs over the course of the four weeks
– 3x gym per week and
– a $160 grocery budget for February
I hit my first goal spot on! I’ve been eating a lot better and as of today I have lost 4 pounds total! I’m very happy with this. I hope to continue this trend for the next few weeks until I’m at least at a loss of about ten pounds.
When I first bought my house in fall ’08 I let stress at work and home get the best of me for the first half year and I gained a bunch of weight. Not a healthy thing to do. I’ve never been a big person and have always had a healthy weight so when suddenly the scales indicated a BMI nudging to 30 in spring of ’09 my heart froze. I spent a while just stabilizing and cutting out the junk food and in the past 14 months I’ve been going back to the healthy eating and exercising habits that kept me slender before and I’m finding my weight is slowly dropping and stabilizing, I also feel great!
I didn’t hit my second goal of going to the gym 3x a week. I hate to make excuses but I had been going regularly until I got sick right at the beginning of this challenge. I’m still struggling a bit with my sinuses but I seem to be mostly on the rebound. Some nice spring weather might help. 😉
I also didn’t make my goal of a $160 grocery budget for February, I went quite a bit over and realized that I had been too ambitious. I’m trying for a more realistic goal this month by giving myself about $200 to spend on groceries. Since beginning to track my spending to the penny I have noticed a downward trend in this expense so hopefully I can be down to that $160 a month or less by the summer.
All in all I did alright!
