I’ve been trying to shed a few pounds since March 30th and while I’ve lost a bit, I haven’t lost what I wanted to lose. (I am trying to get back to last years weight after gaining a bunch due to enormous stress over the winter) I was listening to a radio program today and because of what they were talking about I realized:
‘Who’s really boss, ME, or my body?’
Should it not be so that my body should do exactly what I tell it to do? I think I should be able to ignore its silly impulses financially AND when it comes to my diet. I am not a slave to my impulses. I am the boss, not the other way around.
Don’t you agree?
[Update:] I actually wrote this post a few weeks ago, before I started reading Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover. Dave states very clearly that you need to tell your money where to go instead of wondering where it went (paraphrase). This is exactly what I wrote in this post. Instead of looking back and shrugging my shoulders wondering what the hell happened I should be in control and put each dollar where it belongs. The same applies to my weight, instead of looking at my thigh wondering where the latest dimple came from I need to work those calories and use them properly. This way I can prosper financially and turn my body into a machine that runs efficiently. Work in progress I suppose!
