I’ve been thinking about getting a membership at one of the local gyms for months but I haven’t been able to get over the cost of it… $50 a month! On top of that I like to go to the pool regularly and that adds up to almost $70 dollars/month! In the past three weeks I’ve actually been to the pool 9 times so having a gym membership on top of that really does not fit my budget right now.
Because of all this I decided to start looking for a comfortable yoga-mat so I could do some exercises at home too. After a bit of looking I found this mat at a local store for only $16.99! It’s a yoga mat from a great company called YogaRat that makes non-toxic and environmentally friendly mats from recycled material. So for a great price I got a mat that is environmentally friendly and very comfortable. Good stuff! (note; this is NOT a sponsored post, I just write about stuff I like)
Now the hard part… getting that exercise. I’ve started doing some simple stretches, crunches and planks and I’ve realized I’ve got a long way to go yet.
BUT! Here’s the really awesome part: Shortly after purchasing the mat I discovered that since I am a part-time student I am able to use the school gym for only $22 bucks a month!
The gym in question is pretty decently equipped and only a few years old so I’m excited to start going. I signed up a few days ago and I plan to go at least three times a week. My first session was just 37 minutes of cardio before I had to run off for an appointment but I had a great time, going to the pool regularly has really helped me gain strength and stamina. This workout compared to the very first time I went to the gym years ago was quite different! On top of that I felt great and happy walking out the door so I can’t wait to go back.
With the winter coming I kind of figure I will probably hit the pool less because of my sensitive skin, using the gym membership and going to the pool once a week will run me about $42.00/month. That’s a pretty freaking good deal if you ask me! On top of that I now also have the mat to do stuff at home.
