Well, I’ve seen this done around the web on many personal finance blogs and since posting about my personal budget I thought that this may nudge me in the right direction. Not that I’m really going in the wrong direction… I am making progress financially… but ya know, improvement is always good! This is the second change to my financial life I’m making in the last week! The first one was setting up an automated savings plan. [removed outdated url February 24, 2014]

From what I gather the goal here is some accountability and a better perspective on where money is spent. Posting weekly makes it easier to keep track of things vs a monthly spending post and establishes a bit of a routine. So, like my automated savings plan I’m going to try it out for a while and see how it goes. I’m so non-committal! Hehe.

I am thinking of posting the spending report every Sunday as that is usually a day I spend very little money, if any, making it an easy day to round out the week with.

Week 1 (Oct 17-23)

Monday:
-$32.23 take out
-$1.43 Coffee
-$277.90 Vehicle repair
-$6.29 new jeans (yup, NEW!)

Tuesday:
+$50 Ally savings
-$1.43 Coffee
-$4.37 Tim’s breakfast
-$44.05 Home phone/Internet bill

Wednesday:

+No spend day!
-$1.98 Interest credit card on cashadvances

Thursday:
-$30.74 Import foods
-$73.92 Cellphone bill
-$1.43 Coffee

Friday:
+$10.00 Ally
+$62.19 ING Trip fund
+$36.14 ING Emergency Fund
-$126.97 Mortgage PYM

Saturday:
-$8.72 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes
-$16.46 Student Loan payment

Sunday:
-$3.91 Pop & chips at the movies

Lots of bills this week! Next week should be a little less intense, I’ve also spent a lot on eating out/coffee this week; $74.74 yikes! And that’s on top of regular groceries, way way too much! The import foods are foods I can’t get here, it’s not a regular expense but it is something I do twice a year – I’m going to add it to my yearly list. that still leaves $40+ that I’ve spent on eating out, that’s double what I prefer to spend weekly on things like that.

I’m aiming for 3 no spend days next week.
